Coronavirus Response

To the Congregation and Friends of The First Presbyterian Church of Big Flats,

We are meeting as scheduled for Worship on Sunday mornings at 10:30 a.m.

With that being said, please read the following.

As you know, things are changing daily with regard to the Coronavirus and keeping people, especially those at risk, safe. I was reminded by a Pastor friend that there is an Old Testament passage from Jeremiah, which says, “But seek the welfare of the city… and pray to the Lord on its behalf, for in its welfare you will find your welfare.” (Jeremiah 29:7)

In seeking to protect the welfare of our members, friends, and community at large, we will be implementing the following changes for the time being:

  • To suspend the sacrament of Holy Communion until deemed appropriate. (Though members are invited to remember the Lord’s Supper in their own way.)
  • To suspend coffee hour until deemed appropriate.
  • To suspend all other church-sponsored activities until deemed appropriate.

If you think you may be sick or getting sick or if you are concerned about your personal safety, especially if you are in an “at-risk” category, then we suggest you stay at home and join us for Worship via our Facebook Live broadcast.

Know that these decisions are flexible as our monitoring of the situation continues. We will follow any additional guidelines set by the Governor’s Office, Chemung County Dept. of Health in regards to whether we continue to meet in person for worship.

Blessings and Peace,
Pastor Denise
